More people are killed by knives than rifles according to the latest FBI data published in their Uniform Crime Report for the year 2021. In light of recent publicised shootings, many gun-control advocates have called for “assault rifle” bans such as the ban recently passed by Washington State, a state that joins 9 other states in having such bans. This even though according to the most recent data available from the FBI (2021), there were 447 homicides caused by rifles and 1035 homicides caused by knives.
